Peace School - We'll hear the story of the prophets, and one of which was Elijah. Prophets helped the kings and priests remember that God is still speaking. Sometimes, kings and priests didn't care to listen to God, as much as they cared about following established rules, or gaining power and profits. Prophets like Elijah, made sure that rules, power and profits benefited everyone. They cared for the poor and those left out of the palace and the temple and the capital.
Read - This week read pages 72-81 to continue following along in your Shine On Story Bible through the year. This week's readings finish up the story of Joshua, as well the story of the judge Gideon, and of Ruth.
Practice - Parents, here's an activity to do at home together during the week from Building Faith, an Anabaptist resource. This activity reflects on "Repenting and Forgiving." How did the prophets invite people to repent? Before Jesus, did people care about bing forgiven?
Pray - During the week consider praying a portion of The LORD's Prayer from The New Zealand Prayer Book copied below (or choose to repeat another one of your favorite prayers).
Learning to Serve - As we collect Thanksgiving Food Baskets, this is our last video about DenUM's Food For All. How can we continue working towards making sure everyone always has enough to eat?
