.) Peace School - We'll hear the story of the Temple, which David prepared and Solomon built to house God and the Ark of the Covenant. The visuals below are of "Gideon's Fleece" (Confederacy and Judges) and then the "King's Crown and Priest's Pitcher" (Kingdom and Temple) representing the fifth and sixth sections of our Bible Storyline. With this age group we do not tell stories of the judges (Gideon, Samson, Deborah, Samuel). Instead we focus on following the ark of the covenant, from Moses to King Solomon. Continuing from last week, how do we know where God's home is, where sacred space is, and who we are committed to?
.) Read - This week read pages 64-71 to continue following along in your Shine On Story Bible through the year. This week's reading continues the stories of the people in the Wilderness after they left Egypt.
.) Practice - Parents, here's an activity to do at home together during the week from Building Faith, an Anabaptist resource. This week's is "Salt and Light." It focuses on sharing God's light in the world, like Jesus did. While the past few weeks have been about bringing God close through a tabernacle and temple, how do we spread God's love far and wide?
.) Pray - During the week consider praying a portion of The LORD's Prayer from The New Zealand Prayer Book copied below (or choose to repeat another one of your favorite prayers). Big words, but amazing how quickly younger children can memorize and then take a lifetime to add meaning.
.) Learning to Serve - As we prepare for Thanksgiving, and celebrate the harvest of food this fall, here's our third video about DenUM's Food For All. Consider specific ways your family can work towards all children having enough to eat on a daily basis.
