Peace School on Sunday started a three week journey through Easter for the Pre-K, K-2nd and Venture Club (3rd-5th) classes. Easter has always been a bit of a challenge for us to teach in one Sunday. Just as we can only share so many Bible stories during our 9 months each year, we can only share so much of the Easter story in one class time together. So starting last year, Anita (Children & Youth Faith Formation Coordinator) put together a plan to walk through Holy Week in three lessons:
I don't know if God will resurrect us like Jesus was resurrected. But I personally do believe that God will always be with the forgotten, left out, marginalized, oppressed, depressed, imprisoned and executed. God doesn't seek a hierarchy or justice system, but leaders and justice that always start with the weakest and lowliest. I hear my God calling me to bring hope and good news that life does not have to be so violent, hateful, oppressive and broken. We can live a life toward relationships, love, peace, and a justice that saves everyone.
Imagine if the religious elite can dream a religion that brings people close to God. Imagine if the economic elite can dream of enough resources for everyone. Imagine if the political elite can dream of decisions including the well-being of the weakest? Imagine if the soldiers and police brought relief instead of distress.
God, may Jesus break open our imaginations today as he did 2,000 years ago.
