After being baptized by John and spending time alone in the desert, Jesus started teaching and preaching. However, he did not go into the Temple, but preaching to anyone who would listen. His message was a bit unique too, for he preached that the lowly people in society were meaningful to God. He preached that the poor, sick and widowed were saved.
This was not very good news to those who were wealthy, healthy and prominent. In fact, they did not like Jesus and were ready to beat and kill Jesus to stop such a message. How could the sick be just as loved by God as the healthy? How could God love the poor as much as the wealthy? How could God love the masses as much as the select few in powerful positions? More so, how could God love people who were not Jews? Was this really the gospel (ie good news) of God?
