Mark 6:30-44 is the story of Jesus teaching a crowd of people and making sure they all had enough food to eat. Vern's sermon this Sunday will be with a similar passage in Matthew, and marvel at the social miracle involved. Maybe Jesus could make food out of thin air. But far more likely, probable, and even harder to believe, is that Jesus could lead and teach the people the social miracle of sharing. Are there people in our life who can bring about social miracles? When we think of Ferguson, Aurora's theatre shooting, the ICE Detention Center, and the need for so many food and economic supports - do we believe? Do we truly believe that we belong to Jesus' social miracles? Furthermore, do our children know when they are living in a social miracle moment?
