Hello FMC Families,
This week we continue with learning the stories of Moses and the Ten Best Ways, Israel asking for their first king, and Joshua renewing Israel's covenant with God.
As we prepare for the Advent of the birth of Christ, please let me know if there is one or more Sundays your child or youth would like to help tell the story of Advent. We'll be doing a piece of Advent and the Nativity on Nov. 27, Dec. 4 and Dec. 11. We will not be doing a large Christmas Program this year, but instead are trying smaller pieces of the story with smaller groups of children each week. We'll see how this year goes, and hope it is one way to invite participation without struggling so much for rehearsing as a large group.
May the season of fall treat you well, and may God find you in unexpected ways and places this November.
Hello FMC Families,
This week's lessons and stories include:
"Noah" for the PreK
"Great Family" for the K-2nd Grades
"Joshua" for the Venture Club
"Great Family" systems with the JYF
Jill will be leading the conversation and game time with the MYF
Also, I'll be sending out a way for families, children and youth to be involved during Advent and Christmas season. Instead of one "big" Sunday, I'm working on how in include a smaller scene and story each week. Releases us from the challenge of large group rehearsals, and frees up those who really want to having speaking parts or sing to do so. Nikki and Jeremy and I will be planning together next week. Should be a good way to focus on each part of the Christmas story on a weekly basis.
Finally, I keep us all in my prayers as our Transition with Pastor Rob continues. May we be the church that are children will need, and a church of our children right now as they grow.
Greetings this rainy Thursday morning.
Classes continue for all ages with "Creation" with Pre-K, "Adam and Eve" with K-2nd, "Moses and Exodus" with Venture Club, "Family Systems (through Genesis)" with JYF, and the power of music with the MYF.
Additionally, if you'd like to read the summary of our Faith Formation survey and conversation from May, it just came out in the Menno Focus Newsletter.
I also wrote a Pastors Perspective for the October Menno Focus that names some questions and challenges for personally during this Transition time for our congregation. I invite your thoughts if anyone would like to chat more about the future of FMC. It's a good time for us to keep moving into the future with God.
