Hello Peace School Families,
I hope many of you enjoyed your time up at Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp for our annual Great Getaway Weekend. We had 90 people hiking, eating and playing together. Mark your calendar for March 4-6 if you'd like to join the Venture Club Families on their Winter Retreat. This will be the first year we open it up to anyone interested if we have space available. Lots of snow and ice for broomball, tube runs and human curling!
With the exception of the JYF (6th-8th Graders), all classes this week continue reflecting on parts of Genesis. Parents, if you'd like to follow along I would suggest using Brian McLaren's "We Make the Road by Walking" as a weekly devotional this fall. Since there's a fairly short chapter on a weekly basis, you could easily catch up if you didn't start reading it yet. Chapters 1-8 in McLaren follow the bigger stories and themes of Genesis. This week's reading is Chapter 6 for those following along throughout the year - "Plotting Goodness."
Peace School this week (click on their tab for more info each week):
2's learning about God's love with Roberta and Susan
Pre-K learning the story of Creation from Genesis 1
K-2nd learning the story of Cain and Abel from Genesis 4
Venture Club learning about the Matriarchs and Patriarchs in the second part of Genesis, Chapters 12-40.
JYF will continue reading and reflecting in Revelation, with Chapter 3, containing letters to the churches.
MYF will continue their overview of the Pentateuch/Torah (first five books of the Bible) and reflect on what it means to be "called" and "blessed" for Matriarchs and Patriarchs in Genesis. What does it mean for our lives today?
Hello Peace School families and parents!
We are well into our Peace School year now after a few sleepovers, a potato bar, teacher trainings, Child Protection Orientations, and two weeks of being in our classes together on the 30th and 13th!
I'll be providing this 'Story Site' as a way for parents to connect with what their children are learning on Sunday mornings, as well as a few ideas for continued faith formation during the week at home. My prayer is that this provides you enough resources and tools for your family to create your own ongoing spiritual practices and reflections. If there's anything specific you'd value, please let me know anytime!
Otherwise, this week's posts on the tabs above:
