Peace School - We read Chapter 4 in the Book of Revelation. We'll reflect on what it means to worship Jesus instead of Caesar.
Read - This year, as we consider the Book of Revelation, each JYF youth is encouraged to read the other "Johannine" parts of the Bible. The Gospel of John as well as the three Epistles - 1, 2, 3rd John. This week, continuing reading 3 chapters a week.
For this week, read John 10-12. Please bring any questions and insights to our conversation of Revelation each Sunday!
Pray - There are many resources for learning and deepening your spiritual practice of prayer. One of the simplest is reciting the LORD's Prayer, memorizing it, and thinking through how/whether each phrase is part of your weekly and daily living. The New Zealand version is copied below.
Serve - Consider one specific way you are/will serve God this week. There are always many options in our family, neighborhood, school and church. Share your intention with a friend or parent to keep you motivated. As with any service, focus on the mutual long-term possibilities of the relationship rather than settling for easy charity. Talk with your parents and friends of faith about whether there are any differences between charity, service, and mutual community.
Here is a video by MCC about School Kits, which we collect each summer and put together in August. Consider taking a few moments to learn about global ways to financially support relationships that better people's lives. Consider how people share their time and money to help the weakest parts of any given community.
