Peace School - We'll read Chapter 9 in the Book of Revelation. We'll reflect on what it means to be chosen by God. Does God punish people, allow punishment to happen, and/or walk alongside the punished? Does God really choose everyone, or only a certain group of people?
Read - This year, as we consider the Book of Revelation, each JYF youth is encouraged to read the other "Johannine" parts of the Bible. The Gospel of John as well as the three Epistles - 1, 2, 3rd John. This week, continuing reading 3 chapters a week. For this week, read 1 John Chapt.s 4-5 and 2 John. Please continue to bring any questions and insights to our conversation of Revelation each Sunday!
Pray - There are many resources for learning and deepening your spiritual practice of prayer. One of the simplest is reciting the LORD's Prayer, memorizing it, and thinking through how/whether each phrase is part of your weekly and daily living. The New Zealand version is copied below.
Earth-maker, Pain-bearer, Life-giver,
Source of all that is and that shall be,
Father and Mother of us all,
Loving God, in whom is heaven:
The hallowing of your name echo through the universe!
The way of your justice be followed by the peoples of the world!
Your heavenly will be done by all created beings!
Your commonwealth of peace and freedom
sustain our hope and come on earth.
With the bread we need for today, feed us.
In the hurts we absorb from one another, forgive us.
In times of temptation and testing, strengthen us.
From trials too great to endure, spare us.
From the grip of all that is evil, free us.
For you reign in the glory of the power that is love,
now and for ever. Amen.
