Peace School - We'll learn about Israel choosing a king, and ending their time as a confederacy with a judge. The visual below is the "King's Crown and Priest's Pitcher" representing this sixth section in the Bible Storyline, "Kingdom and Temple."
Reflect - To learn more about the time of the Kings, Priests and Prophets, you can read a few of these stories in your own Bible (4th-5th Graders) and Spark Story Bible (3rd Graders):
Hannah Prays for a Child - 1 Samuel 1:9-27, Spark 118,
God Calls Samuel - 1 Samuel 3:1-20, Spark 122, Shine 84
David is Chosen - 1 Samuel 16:1-13, Spark 126, Shine 86
David and Goliath - 1 Samuel 17:4-11, 32-50, Spark 130, Shine 88
Solomon Builds the Temple - 1 Kings 6, Spark 136, Shine 98
Elijah and the Widow - I Kings 17:8-16, Spark 140, Shine 102
Elisha Feeds 100 - 2 Kings 4:42-44, Spark 144, Shine 110
Naaman is Healed - 2 Kings 5:1-19, Spark 148, Shine 108
You can also use the following activity from Building Faith (a Mennonite resource) to learn about the value of worship - "Shout to God with Joy." This connects with the value of the Temple and Priests during the time of the Kingdom, as well as the meaning of our weekly worship gatherings.
Pray - Consider reciting a version of the LORD's Prayer in Spark 278 and Shine 198. There's also a contemporary version down below from New Zealand.
Serve - As we collect Thanksgiving Food Baskets for DenUM, here's a video about their Food For All project that our donations good toward. Consider how your family can work towards helping our neighbors have enough to eat every day.
Explore - Watch another video below from our Jewish friends about King Solomon and his writings in the Book of Ecclesiastes.
