Peace School - We'll learn about Gideon and the judges, from the fifth section in the Bible Storyline, "Judges and Confederacy."
Reflect - To learn more about the time of the confederacy under the judges, you can find these stories in your own Bible (5th Graders) and Spark Story Bible (4th Graders) and Shine On Story Bible (3rd Graders):
Deborah - Judges 4:1-5:31, Spark 106
Gideon - Shine 76
Noami and Ruth - Ruth 1:1-22, Spark 110, Shine 78
Ruth and Boaz - Ruth 2:1-17, Spark 114, Shine 80
You can also use the following activity from Building Faith (a Mennonite resource) to learn about the value of the "Sabbath." This connects with the Pre-K and K-2nd story about the Ten Best Ways.
Pray - Consider reciting a version of the LORD's Prayer on page 278 in Spark and 198 in Shine. There's also a contemporary version down below from New Zealand.
Serve - As we collect Thanksgiving Food Baskets for DenUM, here's a video about their Food For All project that our donations good toward. Consider how your family can work towards helping our neighbors have enough to eat every day.
Explore - Watch more videos below from our Jewish friends about judges and Ruth during the time of the judges. What does it mean to have a God who will save us? How does Jesus act like these judges, and how does Jesus act differently than these judges? How do we commit to God and to each other today?
